We push to kill,
As hate drives our hearts,
We fall to the ground
As we watch our selves destroy the earth,
Loved ones dead in the field of glory,
They fight for us and all we can do is watch,
The helicopters roar in fury as they arrive,
The missiles snicker and mock us,
They know that they brings us our end,
Our spirits pace away for a moment,
They break away and free them selves from our dismay,
We are left there without spirit or hope,
To one day remember this attack,
Like a dagger of death,
Desperation stabs us,
Hate kills us,
Loneliness,
Disgust,
All lead us to pain.
sitting alone at the door of my mind,

I found an article on the Internet that tells what is occurring in U.K. and the terrorist attacks. In the Internet there are many articles. All over the world a seriously problem is developing very quickly, terrorism, there is terrorism all around the world, including in the safer countries, for example, in U.K, the last few weeks there were various attacks of card bomb, especially in Birmingham, England. Terrorism is a word used to describe violence and/or other painful acts made or threatened against civilians by terrorist groups or persons with political or social goals. Terrorist attacks are often made for maximize fear and publicity among the entire world. There are twelve types of terrorism in the world.Agro-terrorism is the use of plants or animals to disperse a disease through a certain region. Anarchist is the normal use of small bombs in trains or buildings. Bioterrorism is the intentional release or dissemination of biological agents. Cyber-terrorism is attacks with the use and/or help of the Internet and computers. Eco-terrorism consists of threats and/or acts of violence to people or properties. Narcoterrorism is terrorist-type attacks against a nations anti-narcotics police or forces. Nationalist is when a group of people rebel against the government or any company. Nuclear terrorism can be two types of attacks, with nuclear or radiological weapons or and attack to a nuclear plant. Political is made to influence on peoples thoughts and statements. Racist is violence influences by ethnic or cultural issues. Religious is violence influenced by religious beliefs issues. State refers to violence against civilians by the government or nation. State-sponsored is a political term used to refer to bounties, equipment and intelligence material given across boundaries to terrorist organizations and the families of deceased militants for the purpose of conducting or rewarding attacks on civilians.
The five main tactics made by the terrorist are hijacking of public vehicles ( air crafts), or important people for money. Assassination is a very common method seen almost every day in the world, normally of important or/and famous people. Car bombing is now very seen in the countries in Southwest Asia, for example Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon. Suicide attack is not so common, but its used when there is a person that wants to kill someone and he is disposed to give his life for his decision or for religion. Kidnapping is very seen in large cities with a large number of crime rate.
The mayor terrorist attack in the 21Th century occurred in 11Th of September of 2001. Two airplanes crashes into the World Trade Center in New York,City, United States of America. There were 2,973 deaths in total: 246 on the four planes, no one aboard any of the hijacked airplane survived the crash, 2,602 people died in New York at the towers and on the ground surrounding them, and 125 people at the Pentagon.
The day of September 11 of 2001, the school had an early dismissal, when we got out of school, I went to my grandmothers house and me and my family saw the video on the TV. The two towers were totally collapsed, the land surrounding the towers was a complete disaster.

When I was looking for information about terrorism on Internet I found an article called Can we stop terrorism? On CBBC. I chose to make a post about this article because it is interesting and it is a very important for many things for the entire world.
The article showed information of how to stop terrorism in very difficult steps. There are 4 steps and they can take a long of time to be accomplished.
One of the steps was to kill or arrest all of the people that help the terrorists. After there are no more or not so many helpers of the terrorist the terrorist will be wicker, and it will be easier to prevent terrorist attacks.
There is also another step that is to capture the terrorist themselves. This step is not easy because the terrorist are used to hide and look as normal people. An example is Osama Bin Laden who has being hidden in Afghanistan for a long time. He might even be hiding in some other place such as Pakistan.
Another of the steps was to prevent terrorist attacks by putting together higher security standards on places like airports and other crowded places which in the past have being targets of terrorist groups. For example, if there has being better security on the airport where the airplane that hit the twin towers departed, this attack could be prevented.
The last step that is needed to stop terrorism is to maintain terrorist away from politics. If terrorists become involved in politics it will be like if they had won everyone. If a terrorist influences the politics of a country they have lots of power to do an attack.
I think that following these steps is a good way to stop terrorism, but it will take too much time. Since this is a long process, new terrorists will appear as old ones are captured. The step where police need to arrest all the people that help the terrorist will take more then ten years because probably there are a lot of people that help the terrorist. On the step of putting more security on places that can be easily attacked will take like 5 years, finding the terrorist will also take about 1 – 15 years depending of the terrorist.
Right know I want to learn more things about terrorism. I want to learn about important terrorists like Pablo Escobar (A terrorist that is dead and was very bad for Colombia), Osama Bin Laden, Hitler, and many others. Another thing I want to learn of is the effects of terrorism on people, and the most affected people by terrorism. I also want to learn more about the places that are most attacked by terrorist, I know that airports are one but I want to learn other ones. Other 2 things that I want to learn is what is the main cause of people becoming terrorist s and I also want to know what do people feel when the terrorism attack is happening or what do the people that are going to suicide for the attack feels. The last thing I want to learn is how terrorist usually attack.

This week I found one of the things I wanted to learn about terrorism. The thing I wanted to learn was; how terrorist usually attack and the article I found talks about Ways To Make Terrorist Attacks.
There are 7 ways to make terrorist attacks and they are:
1Anthrax= A gas and disease that is naturally occurring. Anthrax can kill many people.
2Bomb and 3car bomb= Bombs are used a lot by terrorists because they can be placed in a lot of places. One of the places where terrorist put bombs a lot are cars. When a terrorist puts a bomb on a car the car is called car bomb.
4 Letter bomb= Letter bomb is a bomb that is inside of a letter or envelope and when the envelope or the letter is opened the bomb explodes immediately.
5Mortar bomb= a mortar bomb is a kind of bomb that is thrown by a metal tube and after it flies a little it is detonated by a timer.
6Sucide bomb= A suicide bomb is very not intelligent to do because the terrorist or a helper of the terrorist needs to suicide. This is because the bomb is inside the clothe of the terrorist, the reason terrorist use this method is that t the person can walk close to the target.
7Hijacking= hacking is when people make terrorist attacks by controlling boats, plains, and buses from a computer. Most of the time hackers use the thing they are controlling as a weapon.
What I think about this article is that there is a very bad way of doing terrorism and is the suicide bomb because is not good to suicide doing some thing bad. Suicide bombs are good for many people an that people are the people that didn’t like that terrorist but those same people don’t like bombs because many innocent people die. An other thing I thing I think about this article is that terrorist have excellent inventions but instead of using it for good things they use it for bad things. For example: hackers could use their abilities for good things and there are many good things they can do with those abilities.
Right know I want to learn the same things I wanted to learn about terrorism the last week except of is how terrorist usually attack. The things are: 1. Last week I mentioned that I wanted to learn about Osama Bin Laden and I did. I found information about him on www.wikipedia.com that was very interesting so I decided to right my post about it.
I learned many things about Osama Bin Laden and I will like to share them with you in this post.
I learned that Osama Bin Laden was born on March 10, 1957 out of a wealthy and big family. He is a Saudi Arabian militant Islamist; he is also founder of al-Qaeda that is the way that the International Alliance of Militant Sunni is called. Osama Bin Laden is on the list of the ten most wanted people of the FBI or Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is strange that at the beginning he was a United States ally during the Russian and Afghanistan war.
Osama Bin Laden is famous because of a terrorist attack he made to the United States of America known as nine eleven because it was on September 11. He attacked the pentagon and destroyed the twin towers.
The method he used to do this attack was hacking the airplanes. Hacking is when people make terrorist attacks by controlling boats, plains, and buses from a computer. Most of the time hackers use the thing they are controlling as a weapon and this is what Osama Bin Laden did. He controlled United Airlines Flight 93, United Airlines Flight 175, American Airlines Flight 11, American Airlines Flight 77, and he threw them to important places like the twin towers.
I think that Osama Bin laden ruined his life because he has to live hidden in very strange and uncomfortable places, always knowing that many people are very mad with him. For example in Colombia there is a song that talks about him and it says many bad things about him and makes fun of him. Another way he ruined his life is that, if United States of America find him, they will punish him and could even sentence him with death penalty. I don’t think he could ever live a normal live again, he would be unhappy forever.
Another thing is that Osama should have been careful enough to hide his terrorist actions. But due to religious factors he told the world he was the author of the attacks. So today everyone knows he is guilty and are doing efforts to bring him to justice.
Now that I have learned a lot about Osama Bin Laden, I will like to study other known terrorist such as: Pablo Escobar (A very known terrorist that is dead and was very bad for Colombia), Hitler, and many others that are important for many bad reasons. I will also like to study the effects of terrorism on people, and what places are most likely to be attacked by terrorist. It will also be interesting to analyze the main causes for people becoming terrorist and I also want to know what do people feel when the terrorism attack is happening or what do the people that are going to suicide for the attack feels.

On the Internet one of the biggest news seen this century was the 9/11. The 9/11 was the greatest terrorist attack in this century. What happened is that two hijacked airplanes crashes into the World Trade Center, another airplane hit the pentagon at the same day, 11Th of September 2001. That day nineteen Al-Qaeda terrorist hijacked 4 commercial passenger jet airliners that where in flight. As I said two airplanes crashes the World Trade Center in New York City, the other at the Pentagon in Virginia, the fourth plane crashes by the intent of control of the airplane by the passengers.
There were 2,992 deaths, including the nineteen hijackers; two hundred and forty six on the four planes, no one aboard of any of the hijacked aircraft survived, 2,602 in near and in the four towers, and finally a hundred and twenty five at the Pentagon. Four hundred and three people died trying to save civilians, including three hundred and forty three New York Fire Department firefighters , twenty three from the New York City Police Department officers, and thirty seven Port Authority Police Department officers, and other twenty four people remain missing.
Nineteen men got on the four planes, five on American Airlines Flight 11, five on United Airlines Flight 175, five on American Airlines Flight 77, and four on United Airlines Flight 93. Fifteen of the nineteen hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates, one from Egypt, and the other from Lebanon.
I think that the nineteen men that hijacked the planes did it because of crazy or following there religion, maybe just because they want to hurt people. I didn't knew what was happening the day when the school was dismissed, until I arrived home and I saw the news. I think it's been the worst day of the lives of many people that had there families in the World Trade Center. When I saw the news I thought of when I was in the World Trade Center one month ago, I was petrified because we went there almost a month ago. I remember that the 11Th of September of 2006 a little private plane from a baseball player of the Yankees crashed a building in New York City, when I saw the news I thought it was a terrorist act, but it was only problems on the plane. I remember that the day after all the newspapers in the country talked about it, some people say the saw the devils face in the smoke that got out of the two towers. On the Internet you could find lots of videos of the crash of the airplanes and the collapse of the two towers.
In this project I want to learn and write next about other terrorist attacks all around the world, especially in Europe and Southwest Asia. To know more about the most famous and dangerous terrorist in history, and what acts did they commit. I want to know the tactics that the terrorist use and what the world is doing to prevent all these events.

According to 2004 UN panel, terrorism is described as an act “intended to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or non combatants with the purpose of intimidating a population or compelling government or an international organization to do or abstain from doing any act”.
Causes of terrorism
A major cause of terrorism is economic inequality which means that the society is divided into the haves and the have nots. This disparity creates dissatisfaction among the have nots and they are forced to rebel or join organizations which are involved in terrorism.
Many people are fanatic about their religion and for spreading their religion, they engage in a war with people of other religions for example the Islamic group in the Middle East are in constant war with the Jews and the Christians.
Sometimes a group starts rebelling because they are considered a minority in a particular country and are not given enough political rights even though the country is democratic. Such groups of people are unhappy and revolt for either a separate state or they want to over throw the present government or simply just ask for more rights. Sometimes the government of a country might not be able to grant them these rights as they are not justified.
Terrorism is also caused by various countries to have a political control of another country. They start training and providing arms to citizens of other countries. Sometimes, the government also creates violent activities to get people against the ruling party or the opposition.
Groups of people that are influenced by terrorism
The poor people get influenced to carry out various acts of terrorism, as they are paid. The drug addicts also join terrorist groups. People who are fanatic follow blindfoldly. Some people are hypnotized to carry jobs like suicide bombing.
The teens are another group that can be easily influenced. Some teenagers are dissatisfied with their family, school or colleges, government or just friends. Sometimes to get extra money to fulfill their needs, they get trapped. Ignorance is another major cause among the teenagers.
Ways of Terrorism
Major form of terrorism is by Bomb Blasts. The terrorist chose this way, as it causes massive loss of lives and property. This creates great dissatisfaction among civilians and forces the government to look into the demands of the terrorist. Other forms of terrorism are kidnapping, assassination and hijacking.
The terrorists use various weapons to terrorize people.
1. Bombs which are made professionally or sometimes made by people in their small homes. Bombs can be huge or small like the letter bombs or time bombs fitted in cars.
2. They use guns, pistols, hand grenades, rifles etc.
3. ‘Chemical Weapons’-These can be kind of gases which are very poisonous when released. It causes choking and is fatal.
4. Biological Material-The terrorists use various kinds of bacteria that can cause diseases like the use of anthrax.
Effect of Terrorism
Terrorism adversely affects the business, tourism, culture and development of a country. It leads to wastage of natural resources. It causes distrust, insecurity and agitation among the civilians of the country.
The teens are effected by terrorism. They are confused whether the government is efficient or not. Increased security measures at the malls, schools, night clubs, movie theatres and parks hamper their freedom to hang around with friends. They are also pressurized by parents not to stay late outside at night. Sometimes the teenagers are held in police custody for interrogation even though they are innocent. Some teenagers suffer from anxiety when they are traveling or their family or friend is traveling. Some are affected so much that they go through sleepless nights. This causes depression and mood swings and under such circumstances, they can be easily be carried away by wrong company and can start smoking or taking drugs.
The parents and teachers should be patient with the teenagers. They should rightly explain them the facts and the situation. Parents should spend maximum time with their children and if the teenagers are affected very badly, then help from counselors and physiatrists should be taken. The affected teenagers should be kept away from TV channels showing the impact of terrorism till they normalize.
Ways of Combating Terrorism
There should be International Awareness. The security at the airports and the public places should be tightened. International Peace keeping groups should try to bring peace between the government and the terrorist groups. People should be taught to be more tolerant towards religion. UN should make efforts to develop countries by achieving the 8 UNDP Millennium goals laid to make the people and the countries progress rather than regress.
My personal experience in Sri Lanka
I lived in Sri Lanka for 11 years. As a child, I do not remember much but as I grew up, I witnessed various bomb blasts and its effects.
I remember my mum and I were dressed to go for a movie when suddenly we heard that there was a bomb blast in that area. Mum canceled the program. I was really irritated and got depressed when I saw on TV how a little three year old boy died and how his grand father was screaming sitting on the road.
Another recent experience was when my class mate and her driver was thrown out of their car just outside school by a group of armed men. This caused great anxiety and anger. I remember how my mother felt insecure to leave me at school.
The September 11 Attacks
The planes came swooshing down,
Down Down Down,
Till it hit the magnificent tower,
Called the World Trade Center.
People looked up amazed,
Screamed and shouted in dismay,
Didn’t know what went wrong,
Is it the plane crashin’…
Down came the people,
Blowing up the building,
As if they were made of plastic,
And no life ever prevailed.
I was sitting cozily watchin’ a film,
Mum came crashing with the news.
The whole world went tipsy topsy,
How such a cowardly act be performed .
